For seizure detection, EpiCentr utilizes a proprietary algorithm that continuously monitors for various seizure-like triggers, including tonic-clonic seizure motion patterns, different types of falls, and abnormal heart rates. The monitoring is performed via Apple Watch sensors. If any of these triggers are detected, a seizure alert is promptly sent.
Alerts with GPS geolocation
EpiCentr sends immediate alerts to designated contacts during a seizure, including real-time GPS location data. This ensures that caregivers and emergency responders can quickly find and assist the user. Geolocation information is sent via push notifications and emails. This feature requires permissions provided on your iPhone.
Sleep Monitoring
Usually, the Apple Watch needs to be charged at night and cannot be used for seizure detection. For this situation, EpiCentr provides Sleep Monitoring, which operates via the iPhone. The most frequent signs of night seizures are unusual vocal sounds and unnatural heavy breathing. The Sleep Monitor records sounds while you sleep, detecting audio levels and cropping out silence. It provides processed audio clips for you to analyze or share with your doctor.
Epilepsy Journal
It is crucial to note key information about your seizures, such as seizure types and duration, medication side effects, auras, and possible seizure triggers. This helps users and healthcare providers track patterns and manage epilepsy more effectively. EpiCentr provides a comprehensive Epilepsy Journal as a free feature. In addition to seizure triggers, auras, and side effects, users can add custom events to log other relevant data.
Epilepsy Triggers Log
Identifying seizure triggers is a key factor in effective epilepsy management. Recognizing these patterns allows for taking preventive measures, but it can sometimes be a challenging task. EpiCentr makes tracking and identifying seizure triggers easy and reliable. The app offers common triggers as prompts, helping users identify particular triggers with one click. Users can also add specific triggers relevant to them. A key feature is the Reports, which provide comparative data outlining the triggers and their frequency over a dedicated period, presented in a visual format.
Reports & Sharing
The app is designed to consolidate all key information about seizures and epilepsy in one place. All recorded data is available in a convenient format within Reports, providing a comparative view for a specific period. Reports are generated in PDF format and can be easily shared with medical providers.
Siren & Voice Messages
You can activate a siren sound to alert those around you during a seizure. Additionally, the app can play a custom voice message recorded by you. This message can include:
An explanation that a seizure is happening or about to happen;
First-aid instructions for assisting you;
A request to call a specific phone number;
A request to call an ambulance.
Caregiver App Mode
For caregivers, EpiCentr offers a special role that allows them to receive push notifications with geolocation directly to their iPhone. This service is available even in the free version and is unique in the market.
Manual Help Request
EpiCentr allows users to trigger an alert manually from the app, their iPhone's lock screen (using a lock-screen widget), or their Apple Watch face. There are two types of alerts: immediate alerts and delayed alerts, which are sent with a pre-set delay.
Unlimited Emergency Contacts
The app allows users to connect an unlimited number of emergency contacts. There is a specific role for caregivers that should be chosen during the initial setup to configure the app properly.
Seizure Alerts from iPhone’s Lock Screen
The app allows users to send seizure alerts directly from their iPhone’s lock screen with one click. To use this feature, set up a widget on your iPhone. An alert is activated by clicking on the widget, without needing to open the app, that saves time in case of emergency.
Seizure Alerts from Apple Watch
The app allows users to send seizure alerts directly from their Apple Watch face with one click. To use this feature, set up a complication on your Watch. It can be customized to your preference and placed on a standard Watch face, eliminating the need to keep the app open. An alert is activated by clicking on the complication, saving valuable time in case of an emergency.
Watch Faces
To make your Watch screen look casual while the app works in the background in monitoring mode, EpiCentr provides a set of custom Watch faces. These custom faces blend seamlessly with your daily style while ensuring the app continues to monitor and provide alerts as needed.
